Robert McConnaughey Discusses a Strategic Approach to ESG on 7investing.com Podcast

Robert McConnaughey, who was recently promoted to Senior Vice President of Investor Relations Advisory and Community Impact, was featured in a podcast on “Investing in Environmental, Social and Governance” with Dan Kline from 7investing.com. McConnaughey discussed how taking a well-integrated and thoughtful approach to ESG is an important part of a larger business strategy. A strategy “where goodness of heart aligns with business goals” will be more durable and beneficial to a wider array of stakeholders than more of a “check the box” activity, he explained. In his new role at Corbin Advisors, McConnaughey leads the firm’s Advisory Group while maintaining his responsibilities overseeing the Community Impact practice. It’s a marriage of two interests – mainstream investing and ESG – that have defined his career and reflect his belief that ESG is a component of a larger business strategy. With more than two decades of experience on the buy-side in large investment firms, McConnaughey has focused more recently on ESG investing, including founding Thistlebrook Solutions, an impact investing and consulting firm committed to catalyzing success for outstanding mission-driven enterprises. “ESG intersects with my personal interests,” said McConnaughey, who earned a master’s in environmental management from Duke University and has volunteered extensively in conservation, education and economic development in his native Massachusetts. “I deeply believe the principles of ESG are the right things to do, but that it is more than just a moral imperative.
