For over a decade, we have analyzed the impact of ESG on investment decisions. Part 2 of our 4-part series focuses on architecting an impactful ESG strategy that prioritizes leading investor focus areas.
As we noted last Friday, our 2023 Global ESG Survey polled and interviewed 155 institutional investors and 103 IR and C-suite executives globally between March 14 and May 17 across more than 30 focus areas relating to ESG.
According to our proprietary research:
- 74% of corporate issuers cite shifting investor preferences as the leading motivator to incorporate ESG into their firm strategy
- 44% of investors say both ESG risk mitigation and taking advantage of ESG opportunities are equally important to their investment decision-making process
- 54% of buy-side professionals indicate that company-executed materiality assessments are helpful to the ESG research and evaluation process
Since our 2021 Global ESG Survey, there has been a ~20% increase in companies communicating specific targets, goals or KPIs across each E, S, and G components
